Dr. Sachs completed his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan and medical school at the University of Maryland.  He completed his general surgery internship at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan and surgical residency at WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Sachs went on to do an advanced fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery/Bariatrics/Flexible Endoscopy at the Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery in Crosby, Minnesota.  After training, he worked at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania where he served as Medical Director for the UPMC Comprehensive Program. Dr. Sachs moved to Haymarket, Virginia and joined Dr. Zubowicz's practice in late 2022.  He is currently setting up a reflux program based at UVA Haymarket Medical Center with plans to create a state-of-the-art treatment site.  He is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and has the expertise to find the best approach for every individual patient.  He knows that there are too many patients who have been told "just to take medicine" and that reflux is "not a big deal".  Whether it's supporting your weight loss journey, helping to treat your heartburn/reflux, or simply removing your painful gallbladder, Dr. Sachs will combine the art of medicine with an empathetic ear and friendly approach.
